Antique Chinese

Cabinets, Consoles and Trunks With a Story

Most of the collection is restored originals recovered from rural China, alongside a handful of reproductions made with traditional techniques. You'll find:

• Cabinets - From compact two-door designs to wide sideboards with six doors, plus apothecary-style medicine cabinets with rows of small drawers.
• Console tables - Slim hall tables with two to four drawers, many with carved detailing.
• Trunks and low cabinets - Low storage that doubles as a coffee table or sits at the foot of a bed.
• Benches - Long timber benches for a hallway, an entry or extra seating.

Finishes range from pale natural timber to painted turquoise, red, blue and black.

Finding a Chinese Cabinet That Fits

Our cabinets run from 55cm to 234cm wide and most are 40 to 48cm deep, slim enough for a hallway or behind a sofa. Tall cabinets reach up to 185cm, while low cabinets sit 48 to 72cm high and work well beneath a TV.

Console tables are 30 to 48cm deep and around 80 to 96cm high, and the benches are 190 to 200cm long. Because every Chinese cabinet is a single piece, check its listing for the exact measurements before you order.

Why One-of-a-Kind Chinese Furniture Feels So Personal

Every piece carries a story. Our antiques are restored with care to keep their original design, so the natural wear, aged colour and old markings stay as part of their history, never sanded away. Alongside them, new pieces are made by hand using the same traditional joinery and finishes, so they sit naturally together.

That character is the point. A painted Chinese cabinet brings colour to a neutral room, a long sideboard gives a living room generous storage, and a console in the entry tells guests something about you before you say a word. It’s also why our antique Chinese furniture sits so easily alongside mango wood, rattan or a crisp white room.

Gentle Care for Aged Timber

Clean these pieces with a soft, dry cloth only. Skip cleaning agents and polish sprays, which can affect the lacquer, wax or painted finish. Keep them away from heaters and strong direct sun so the timber and colour stay settled.
